A woman who was caught drink-driving six times over the legal limit with three young children in the car in Sydney’s north-west has been sentenced to nine months’ home detention.
Erika Francesca Bycroft, 39, was stopped by another female driver at Westleigh in October 2014.
Police said she was seen swerving across a road in a residential area where children were playing and almost hit a pedestrian refuge.
Officers said they could immediately smell alcohol coming from Bycroft and described her as having bloodshot eyes and “signs of bark and grass” on her dress.
She returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.327 and admitted to drinking five vodka drinks before getting behind the wheel.
Bycroft was sentenced in Hornsby Local Court to nine months’ home detention and has lost her licence for three years.
She will be eligible for parole on November 24, 2014.
